The Saturday Scribble: Why You Should Plan Your Weekend Offline
Share
It is Saturday, January 10th.
If you are like most of us, the first thing you did when you woke up was check your phone. You scrolled through Instagram, checked a few WhatsApp groups, and maybe even glanced at a work email (stop that!).
But look outside. The winter sun is perfect. The markets are buzzing. We are just days away from Uttarayan / Makar Sankranti, and there is an electric energy in the air.
Today, we have a challenge for you: The Analog Saturday.
At Script & Soul, we believe Saturdays are for living, not scrolling. Your phone is a tool for distraction. Your diary is a tool for intention.
The "Master Prep" List
Before you head out into the traffic to buy kites, gifts, or ingredients for Undhiyu or Pongal, spend ten minutes with your diary and a cup of chai.
Writing your list on paper changes how your brain processes it. It turns "chores" into "plans."
Try organizing your Saturday entry like this:
1. The "Hunt" (Shopping) Don't just write "shopping." Be specific.
-
Buy 5 firkis (get the good thread!).
-
Pick up jaggery and peanuts for chikki.
-
Get fresh flowers. Checking these off physically with a pen feels infinitely more satisfying than tapping a screen.
2. The "Slow Down" (Self-Care) Saturdays disappear fast. Block out time for doing absolutely nothing.
-
4:00 PM - 5:00 PM: Read on the terrace.
-
9:00 PM: Family dinner (No phones).
3. The "Memory" Leave a small space at the bottom of the page. Before you go to bed tonight, come back and write down the best thing you ate today. (We bet it’s something sweet).
Disconnect to Reconnect
Your phone notifications will still be there on Monday. But this specific Saturday—this cool breeze, this pre-festival excitement—will be gone in 24 hours.
Close the tabs. Open the book. Go enjoy the market.
