The "Mondayest Friday": How to Survive the Return to Reality
Share
It is Friday, January 16th.
Let’s be honest: Nobody wants to be here today.
If you are in Gujarat or Maharashtra, you likely spent the last 48 hours on a rooftop. You were fighting kite battles, eating Undhiyu, and living your best life. Now, you are sitting under fluorescent office lights. You have a slight sunburn on your nose. Your fingers are still sticky from the tape. And your inbox? It is a disaster zone.
This is what we call "Re-entry Shock."
It is technically a Friday, but it feels like the heaviest Monday of your life. At Script & Soul, we are giving you permission to take it easy today.
The "Soft Landing" Technique
Do not try to clear your whole to-do list today. You will crash. Instead, open your diary and try the Soft Landing method.
1. The "Damage Control" List Don't look at all your emails. Just scan for the fires. Write down the 3 things that will explode if you don't touch them today.
-
Reply to Boss.
-
Submit the timesheet.
-
Pay the vendor. Everything else? It can wait until Monday (the real Monday).
2. The Transition Ritual Your brain is confused. It thinks it is still a holiday. Help it transition. Write down one specific memory from the last two days that you want to keep.
-
"The moment the breeze finally picked up at 4 PM."
-
"The funny joke Uncle Ravi told." Locking that memory into ink helps you let go of the holiday and focus on the present.
3. The "survival" Mantra Write this at the top of your page: "I only have to get through today. Then it is the weekend again."
Be Kind to Yourself
You are running on fumes, sugar, and adrenaline withdrawal. Drink extra water. Leave on time. The work will still be there on Monday. Today is just about showing up.
